Art Can Be and Is Relevant- even in these uncertain financial times...Do you ever go thru an event, whether its a relationship, a job, a season or sorts in your own life- and just feel that
a reappearance of a song, or a movie just totally takes you 'right back there'?? It could be
a good or a bad event, it really don't matter- but the very recognition speaks to the importance of art.
An image of John Cusak clinging to a boombox with his heart on his pushed up raincoat sleeves, or that fireman carrying
out that girl from the Oklahoma rubble, or even a White old-school Ford Bronco pulling up next to you at a stop light....
all carry a time stamp-able recollection of so much in an instant.
This whole creative process of writing, and
rewritting, and bringing to life what has been revealed to me in tangents, pieces and sometimes quick flashes, is an
exhausting, yet Life affirming process. I live to wrap my fingers around the neck of guitar thats yearning to be strummed.
I live to take paint to canvas and let the paint and canvas get better acquainted. I love to brainstorm with people
who inspire me to dig deeper for another hour of planning and analyzing aspects of production.
But the thing I
love the most about creating, is when its all said and done, its something that never grows old. Every time you collaborate
with an instrument, medium, or person... its a powerful process to meld a thought, concept or emotion together and then do
the most sacred thing... Share what you have created. Once the actual ' thing has been preserved, it don't
mean much if you don't actually let it breathe, and then let it fly.
I think its time to let some birds
out this rusty cage, and try out their wings..
More to come.....
